Resources for New Moms
Don’t even try to pronounce haemophilus influenzae type b. Most refer to this disease simply as Hib. Your baby will get a shot to protect against Hib at three different checkups: 2, 4, and 6 months and get one final dose after their first birthday. The Hib vaccine protects against several nasty infections caused by a bacteria. These include meningitis (a brain infection), pneumonia (a lung infection), and epiglottitis (a throat infection).
Visit the CDC for more information about Hib.
