Vaccines: Hepatitis B

Your baby’s first vaccine happens before you even bring them home from the hospitalthe first of three shots that protect against hepatitis B. Your baby will get the next two shots (or doses) at well baby visits, likely at 1-2 months and 6-18 months. It is important to get all three for your baby to be fully protected.

Hepatitis B is a virus that can cause lifelong liver problems, including liver cancer. The vaccine is very safe and can protect your baby. Your time with your baby in the hospital is very busy but take a minute to make sure your baby gets protected from hepatitis B right from the start!

Visit the CDC for more information about Hepatitis B.
