Healthy Mouth and Teeth During Pregnancy

Did you know that the changing hormone levels that occur with pregnancy can make some dental problems worse?

According to the CDC, nearly 60 to 75% of pregnant women have gingivitis, an early stage of periodontal disease that occurs when the gums become red and swollen from inflammation that may be aggravated by changing hormones during pregnancy.

It’s important to continue to see your dentist during pregnancy for oral examinations and professional teeth cleanings. Be sure to tell your dentist that you are pregnant and share any changes you have noticed in your teeth and mouth.

Always brush your teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste and floss your teeth daily.
